The VEX EXP Education Kit (280-7735) is a single-robot kit that brings real-world STEM to high-school classrooms. Students build with metal channels, plates, bars and gussets fastened with screws and nuts, giving them experience with the kind of construction used in real engineering. The electronics include an EXP Robot Brain with a color screen, an EXP Controller for wireless driving and code download, a 2500 mAh lithium-ion Robot Battery, five Smart Motors, an Optical Sensor, a Distance Sensor, two Bumper Switches and Smart Cables. Motion parts include high-strength gears, sprockets, chain, tank tread, travel and omni wheels, rack gears and intake flaps, along with tools and hardware. Robots can be coded in Blocks, Python or C++ through VEXcode, and the kit is supported by standards-aligned STEM Labs, robot builds and the VEX Library. Parts are stored in two labeled bins, and the battery charges over USB-C in about 2.5 hours and lasts a full classroom day.

    VEX V5 Robot Brain

The VEX V5 Robot Brain (276-4810) is the controller at the center of every V5 robot. Students and teachers use it to run programs, troubleshoot their robot and see real-time feedback on its 4.25-inch full-color touchscreen, with dashboards that show device diagnostics. Its 21 Smart Ports automatically detect whether a motor or sensor is connected, so devices can be plugged into any port and swapped on the fly. Eight built-in 3-Wire ports support analog and digital sensors, including legacy VEX EDR devices. Inside, a Cortex A9 processor works with an FPGA, and the Brain offers 128 MB RAM, 32 MB flash, eight user program slots, USB 2.0 High Speed, VEXnet 3.0 and Bluetooth 4.2 wireless, and storage expansion up to 16 GB. The Brain is programmed with VEXcode and can be mounted through four 8-32 inserts or detachable flanges. The package includes the Brain, a magnetic screen protector, a V5 power cable and long and short attachment flanges.

    VEX V5 Pneumatics Kit

The VEX V5 Pneumatics Kit (276-8750) contains everything a classroom or VEX Robotics Competition team needs to start using pneumatics. Compressed air produces fast, powerful linear motion that is ideal for mechanisms with two positions, such as a claw, an intake deployment or a lift that moves up and down. The kit includes 75 mm, 50 mm and 25 mm stroke cylinders, a 200 mL air tank, an air pressure gauge, a pressure regulator with mounting bracket, two double-acting solenoids with driver cables, a shut-off valve, elbow, tee, straight and flow-control fittings, plugs, a valve stem, 3 m of 4 mm tubing and a tubing cutter. The system runs at up to 100 psi, and cylinders have a 10 mm bore with a maximum force of 54 N. Students learn about pressure, force and actuation while coding solenoids from their robot programs. VEX provides guides on the kit components, example configurations and coding, and the kit is legal for VEX V5, VEX U and VEX AI competitions.

VEX AI Vision Sensor (V5 & EXP)

The VEX AI Vision Sensor (276-8659) adds powerful object detection to VEX V5 and EXP robots, both in the classroom and on the competition field. It replaces the earlier VEX Vision Sensor (276-4850). The sensor can detect up to seven colors at once as color blobs, recognize color codes, identify AprilTags, and use AI to detect VEX classroom game objects such as cubes, buckyballs and rings, as well as VEX Robotics Competition game objects from the 2024-25 season onward. Printable AprilTags are available from VEX for classroom activities. It works with VEXcode V5, VEXcode EXP and the Visual Studio Code extension; color and color-code features are supported in Blocks, Python and C++, as are AI and AprilTag detection. Students can use the sensor to build robots that find, follow and sort objects or navigate by markers. The package includes the AI Vision Sensor and a 1 m USB A-C cable.

VEX V5 2026-27 "Override" Game Element Kit

The 2026-27 VEX V5 Competition Override Full Game & Field Element Kit (276-9250) contains all the field and game elements required to set up Override, the game for the 2026-27 VEX V5 Robotics Competition season. It is legal for VEX V5, VEX U and VEX AI competitions, and purchasing it requires a paid VEX team registration. The kit works with both the standard Competition Field Perimeter Kit and the Portable Competition Field Perimeter. The field perimeter, foam tiles and most field element plates are not included: each field needs nine field element plates, and one is supplied in the kit. Plates from previous seasons, such as Push Back (2025-26), can be reused, otherwise VEX recommends two Field Element Plate 4-packs (276-9091) per kit. With the official layout set up at school, teams can practice driving, test mechanisms, develop strategy and build autonomous routines ahead of events. The kit has a shipping weight of about 27.2 kg.

    VEX AIM Coding Robot

VEX AIM is a coding robot designed for computer science education in middle and high school classrooms. It arrives ready to use, so lessons can focus on coding rather than building. With its AI Vision Sensor and omnidirectional drive, AIM can move in any direction, recognize objects and AprilTags, and kick, catch and carry items. The robot has a multilingual color touchscreen, 36 emojis, a speaker, programmable LED lights, and a gyro, accelerometer and wheel encoders for precise navigation. A kicker lets it pick up and place barrels and catch or kick the sports ball. Students can drive it with the included one-stick controller, code it with on-robot buttons, or program it with VEXcode Blocks, Switch or Python, as well as Visual Studio Code with the VEX extension. Programs download over Bluetooth or USB, and robots can communicate with each other via Bluetooth. The kit includes the AIM robot, storage case, controller, USB cable, three orange and three blue barrels, two sports balls and five AprilTag signs. An intro course, STEM Labs and an optional AIM Field support classroom use.
